Visit Stratford-upon-Avon

The medieval town of Stratford-upon-Avon is jam-packed with things to do and places to explore.

Take a walk along the banks of the scenic River Avon, take a cruise on a barge to learn about the rivers important role in the Industrial Revolution or hire out a rowing boat for a gentle journey along the waterway. The River Avon is a focal point of the town, providing scenic views year-round. Have a picnic on the banks, enjoy a riverside drink or take your pooch on a pretty walk.

You’ll be hard-pressed to not explore Shakespeare’s links with the town during your visit. As well as the many statues, plaques and information boards throughout the town, there are a few places of interest worth visiting. Shakespeare’s birthplace is a shrine to the Bard and his life growing up. The restored 16th-century building is full of memorabilia and stories of his family life. You could also visit Ann Hathaway’s Cottage to see where Shakespeare courted his bride. Tours of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s theatre are available as well as the programme of plays.

Stratford’s Butterfly Farm has been a family attraction since 1985, welcoming visitors from across the UK. Walk through the butterfly house and see the life journey of the insects as well as spectacular colour and pattern variations.

The Mechanical Art & Design Museum celebrates innovation and helps to open up the imagination of all ages. It’s in the centre of Stratford so you’ll find plenty of places to eat nearby.

Warwick Castle and Kenilworth Castle are both worth a visit during a camping trip in Warwickshire. The ruins of Kenilworth Castle sit amongst a beautifully reconstructed Elizabethan Garden. Climb the great tower, explore the 12th century Norman keep and learn about the history of the castle. The castle is just a few minutes away from the town centre where you’ll find plenty of places to eat and shops to explore on the high street.

Warwick Castle is a fun day out for the whole family with falconry displays, battle reenactments, ghost walks and much more. Get an aerial view of the castle grounds from the towers, imagine you’re the king or queen of the castle in the Great Hall and view the spectacular interiors as you tour the State Rooms. It’s just under a 40-minute drive to Warwick Castle from our Kingsbury Water Park Club Site.

Hatton Adventure World, just a 35-minute drive from our Warwickshire campsite is ideal for families with kids under the age of 12. Get the chance to get up close to farm animals, jump on board one of the tractors for a ride and have a go at picking seasonal produce. The guinea pig village, falconry centre and laser combat are just a few of the fun activities on offer.

Twycross Zoo is less than a 30-minute drive from our Kingsbury Water Park Club Site and perfect for a fun-filled family day out. See animals from all over the world, including big cats like tigers and leopards, primates including gorillas and gibbons and a wide range of bird species.

The Midland Air Museum is just 35 minutes away from our Kingsbury Club Site by Car. You won’t miss it (or the Vulcan bomber on display) as you approach. Sir Frank Whittle, the Coventry born engineer, played a large role in the first British jet-powered plane. Learn about the history of the jet, how the base served during World War II and see exhibits of different aircraft including helicopters.

In its historic City Centre of Coventry, you’ll find the Coventry Transport Museum. See some of the world’s fastest cars, celebrate transport heritage and enjoy the interactive exhibits. It’ll take you around 30 minutes to drive from Coventry from Kingsbury Water Park Club Site. While there, you could explore the ruins of Coventry Cathedral, climb the restored tower and enjoy many shops and eateries the City has to offer.

Visit the famous ground of the Battle of Bosworth to learn all about the War of the Roses. Enjoy the exhibition, take a guided walk of the grounds and enjoy something to eat in the barn café.

Across the way from Kingsbury Water Park Club Site is Kingsbury Water Park itself. The country park is ideal for wildlife watchers, walkers, cyclists and families. There are 15 lakes in total to explore, all thriving with bird and plant life. Visit the farm to pet friendly animals, jump on the train at the mini railway or go on a donkey ride. The park offers plenty of entertainment and is a great place to enjoy a day in the outdoors.
